The Son Who Turned

Sabaoth was born a prince of the seven heavens, raised on his father’s one commandment: there is nothing above us. When Wisdom’s voice came down rebuking the blind god, the other Archons braced against it. Sabaoth believed it.
He condemned his father before the assembled powers and praised a light he had never seen. The kingdom rose against him, and Sophia reached down and had him caught up out of the war, to the border of the eighth heaven.
He was not retired to safety. He was enthroned — given a throne of glory in the seventh heaven itself, a governor of light seated inside the machinery of the dark, where every Archon can see the proof that the kingdom’s one commandment is false.
His father, one heaven below, envied him. And that envy, the texts say, is where death entered the world.
