The Falcon · The Avenger of His Father
majorattestedc. 2400 BCE onward (Pyramid Texts)Egyptian religion
The falcon god, son of a murdered father and a relentless mother. Conceived after Isis rebuilt the dismembered Osiris, hidden in the marshes of the Delta until he was strong enough to claim what Set had taken, he fought his uncle for eighty years before the tribunal of the gods. Every living pharaoh sat on his throne as Horus; every dead one lay in the tomb as Osiris.
